31 diciembre 2006.A pesar del espectacular incremento que ha experimentado el precio del oro desde el año 2001, de 250$ hasta los 636$ al cierre del 2006, en contra lo que se pudiera pensar, la producción mundial se ha mantenido estática.

MKS Finance SA - Geneva Thursday, 28-December-2006Gold was fairly quiet on Tocom as it was the last business day for most Japanese companies ahead of the year-end holidays. Some buying interest however emerged on slightly weaker US dollar and the growing geopolitical tensions after the UN Security Council unanimously voted on Saturday to impose sanctions on Iran’s trade in sensitive nuclear materials and technology.

Tocom opened withsome buying interest from the general public, but light profit takingcapped the market around $625.50 levels. This high was revisited a coupleof times helped by the euro currency gaining over 50 pips.

MKS Finance SA - Geneva Tuesday, 26-December-2006 Gold opened three and a half dollars higher on Tocom compared toFriday’s close. Subsequently fund buying progressively pushed the priceshigher, overcoming the $624 resistance and ending the Asian session on thepeak. In the absence of access or CBOT and London being closed for holidaythe yellow metal saw some profit taking in the illiquid ecomex market, butbounced back up straight after the opening of NY trading.

Gold remained bounded by a two dollar range in the Far East aswell as in early European hours. MKS Finance SA - Geneva Tuesday, 12-December-2006 Gold was fairly inactive in Asia with very thin volumes traded and noreal interest in the market. The upside was capped around $630.80 level byliquidation of long positions and the downside limited to $629 due to theabsence of any follow through selling. ECB said today in its regular weeklyconsolidated financial statement that gold and gold receivables held byeuro-zone central banks fell by 71 million euros in the week ended on the8th of December.
