MKS Finance SA - Geneva Thursday, 11-January-2007 Gold opened about a dollar lower compared to the NY closing priceWednesday and Tocom kept being offered pushing spot down to $609.50. In theabsence of any follow through the yellow metal saw some short coveringtowards the end of the Asian session which allowed it to recover from thelows.

The metal however retreated only about a dollar fromthe Asian opening levels as soon as there wasn’t any follow through. Spottried to challenge the upside during the early European hours again, but aswell as during the Far East session it was limited to $613.10.

Subsequently the yellow metal opened two dollars firmeron Tocom and buying from general public brought it to the high of $613.50.In Europe the prices made another attempt to break higher on a slightlyweaker US dollar, but were limited to $614 this time.

MKS Finance SA - Geneva Tuesday, 2-January-2007The nominee for the year 2006 best performer and the winner is … Silver ! Silver chalked up a 45.50% gain on the year. Copper gained 40.60%. Palladium gained 32%. Platinum gained 17% on the year. Gold managed to gain only 23% on the year, but that s still well below the year $700/oz peak in May.
